New holding Richemont Performance - last 5 years 250 Richemont is the global leader in the «hard luxury» space - watches and jewelry. Their diverse portfolio consists of prestige brands like Cartier, Piaget, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Vacheron Constantin and Panerai. The barriers to entry are very high. Many of these brands have been in existence since the 1700 s. This gives heritage and pricing power that are very hard to emulate. The competitive environment is stable with the two biggest players, Richemont and Swatch taking market share over the past five years. Richemont is in our view the best run company in the most attractive part of the high growth luxury industry. The combination of strong brands and excellent retailing drives industry leading profitability. Richemont has a proven track record and a solid balance sheet. Too solid in our view. There should be room for returning more to shareholders. Investor concerns over a slowdown in China are justified. We believe, though, that the company is well positioned to capitalise on long-term incremental demand from emerging market consumers getting more wealthy. 200 150 100 50 0 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 CIE FINANCI-REG CIE FINANCI-REG MSCI EUROPE Apparel, Accessories & Luxury Market Value (mill) 45 678 Price 79,55 Price currency CHF Net debt -5 419 Reporting currency EUR Enterprise Value (mill) 40 259 FX rate (NOK) 9,30 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016E 2017E -4FY -3FY -2FY -1FY 0FY 1FY 2FY Sales (mill) 6 892 8 868 10 150 10 023 10 410 11 647 12 319 EBIT (operating Income) (mill) 1 355 2 048 2 426 2 427 2 670 2 640 2 876 Net Income (mill) 1 090 1 544 2 013 2 072 1 334 2 232 2 346 Price/earnings 19,9 18,9 20,7 17,9 31,0 18,4 17,7 Price/Book Value 3,1 3,0 3,3 3,3 2,9 2,7 2,5 EV/EBIT 13,8 11,0 12,6 14,2 13,8 13,6 12,2 Return on Equity (%) 17,2 19,9 21,4 18,7 10,1 14,8 14,3 Dividend yield (%) 1,1 1,0 1,6 2,0 2,1 2,4 2,5
Profit Warning in Leoni Performance - last 5 years Leoni released a profit warning on October 12 th, stating that EBIT in Q3 will be significantly lower than anticipated, 30m euro vs 50m euro expected. The company also said that it will not reach the target of 7% operating margin in 2016. There are several reasons why profitability will be lower than expected. Firstly, the ramp up of a delivery in factories in Serbia and Romania was more complicated than expected as the customer wanted a faster ramp-up and higher volumes. This led to higher cost and lower efficiency for Leoni. One of Leoni s more profitable contracts in China was also terminated earlier than expected as the customer stopped production of one of their models early. The company sees weaker demand in China and Russia in addition to weakness in US agricultural equipment in 2016. It is disappointing that the company will not reach its 2016 targets, but some hick-ups were expected given the large number of projects ramp-ups in 2015. Leoni will still deliver solid revenue and ebit growth in 2016, so we see the share price fall as an overreaction. 350 300 250 200 150 100 50 0 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 LEONI AG LEONI AG MSCI EUROPE Auto Parts & Equipment Market Value (mill) 1 202 Price 36,80 Price currency EUR Net debt 299 Reporting currency EUR Enterprise Value (mill) 1 501 FX rate (NOK) 9,30 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015E 2016E -4FY -3FY -2FY -1FY 0FY 1FY 2FY Sales (mill) 2 956 3 701 3 809 3 918 4 103 4 390 4 609 EBIT (operating Income) (mill) 130 244 230 164 187 166 230 Net Income (mill) 67 156 157 106 115 102 152 Price/earnings 13,6 5,3 10,6 14,4 10,5 11,9 8,1 Price/Book Value 2,0 1,1 1,2 2,1 1,8 1,2 1,1 EV/EBIT 10,8 4,3 5,1 12,3 10,2 10,0 7,2 Return on Equity (%) 15,8 25,6 20,6 13,1 13,2 10,8 14,7 Dividend yield (%) 2,1 5,8 5,3 1,8 2,4 2,9 4,0
