Disse er: o Å kunne uttrykke seg muntlig. Elevene skal kunne forklare, beskrive, presentere, reflektere og drøfte. o Å uttrykke seg skriftlig. Med skrift kan elevene kommunisere med folk som ikke er til stede. De kan ta vare på tankene sine og sortere dem, og de kan forestille seg dagens og gårdagens virkelighet, men også det som ennå ikke har vært. o Å kunne lese. Eleven må ha en visshet om at lesing faktisk handler om å forstå, oppleve og lære. Videre er det en forutsetning at en har sikre og automatiserte kodingsferdigheter og språklig innsikt tilpasset aktuelle tekster. o Å kunne regne. Regneferdigheter inngår i vårt dagligliv på en rekke områder. Dette omfatter antallsvurdering tilknyttet for eksempel til målinger, mønstre og former, og bruk av tall for å representere størrelser i praktiske sammenhenger. o Å bruke digitale verktøy. Digitale ferdigheter er nødvendig for at elever skal kunne fungere i en stadig mer digitalisert hverdag og kunne delta aktivt i arbeids- og samfunnslivet, og det er en forutsetning i et livslangt læringsperspektiv.
