We have given it along with Answer Key. Kind Attention to the Students From this year onwards, blue print system has been abolished. Please note that questions will be framed from IN-TEXT portions ALSO. Approximately 20% of the questions will be asked from IN-TEXT portions. These questions will be based on Reasoning and Understanding of the lessons. Further, Creative and Higher Order Thinking Skills questions will also be asked. It requires the students to clearly understand the lessons. So the students have to think and answer such questions. It is instructed that henceforth if any questions are asked from out of syllabus, grace marks will not be given. Term Test, Revision Test and Model Exam will be conducted based on the above pattern only. Concentrating only on the book-back questions and/or previous year questions, henceforth, may not ensure to score 100% marks. A bus is a collection of wires used for communication between the internal components of a computer. The address bus is used to point a memory location. The data bus is bidirectional and the address bus is unidirectional. The control bus controls both read and write operations. 28. Single User Operating Systems : An operating system allows only a single user to perform a task at a time. It is called as a Single user and single Task operating system. For a user, a task is a function such as printing a document, writing a file to disk, editing a file or downloading a file etc. MS-DOS is an example for a single user and single task Operating System. Multi-user Operating Systems : It is used in computers and laptops that allow same data and applications to be accessed by multiple users at the same time. The users can also communicate with each other. Windows, Linux and UNIX are examples for multi-user Operating System. 29. Recycle Bin : Recycle bin is a special folder to keep the files or folders deleted by the user, which means you still have an opportunity to recover them. The user cannot access the files or folders available in the Recycle bin without restoring it. To restore file or folder from the Recycle Bin (i) Open Recycle bin. (ii) Right click on a file or folder to be restored and select Restore option from the pop-up menu. (iii) To restore multiple files or folders, select Restore all items. 30. Auto Correct function has the facility to correct the common misspellings and typing errors, automatically. For example, hte will be changed to the. which can be done through the menu option, Tools AutoCorrect to open the AutoCorrect dialog box which provides the chance to change the misspelled word by a default name. (i) To stop the Writer to replace specific spellings, use Tools AutoCorrect, highlight the word pair and click Delete. (ii) To add a new spelling to correct, type it into the Replace and With boxes and click New. 31. To split a cell: 1. Place the insertion pointer inside the cell. 2. Right click and choose Cell Split, or choose Table Split Cells from the menu bar. 3. Select the direction of the split, horizontally (for rows), or vertically (for columns), as well as the total number of cells to create. 4. The dialog box displayes the split cells. 32. When you insert a new column, it is inserted to the left of the current column. The location of the cell pointer present, is the Current column. In Calc, you can insert a new column anywhere in the worksheet. 5

6 6 Step 1: Select the column where a new column should be inserted. Step 2: Right-click on the selected column name that you selected. A pop-up menu appears. Step 3: click the Insert Columns option from the menu. Now, a new column will be inserted to the left of the current column. A new column can also be inserted using Insert Columns command. 33. (iv) Click the Slide icon in the Presentation toolbar. Step 2: Select the layout slide that best fits your needs. Step 3: Modify the elements of the slide like removing unneeded elements, adding needed elements (such as pictures), and inserting text. Section- IV 34. Different types of mouse available are: Mechanical Mouse, Optical, Laser Mouse, Air Mouse, 3D Mouse, Tactile Mouse, Ergonomic Mouse and Gaming Mouse. Most commonly used types of mouse: (i) Mechanical Mouse : A small ball is kept inside and touches the pad through a hole at the bottom of the mouse. When the mouse is moved, the ball rolls. Model Question Paper (ii) Optical Mouse : Measures the motion and acceleration of pointer. It uses light source instead of ball to judge the motion of the pointer. Optical mouse has three buttons. Optical mouse is less sensitive towards surface. (iii) Laser Mouse : Measures the motion and acceleration of pointer. Laser Mouse uses Laser Light. Laser Mouse is highly sensitive and able to work on any hard surface. There are several encoding systems used for computer. They are (i) BCD Binary Coded Decimal (ii) EBCDIC Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (iii) ASCII American Standard Code for Information Interchange (iv) Unicode (v) ISCII - Indian Standard Code for Information Interchange (i) BCD Binary Coded Decimal : This encoding system is not in the practice right now. This is 2 6 bit encoding system. This can handle 2 6 = 64 characters only. (ii) EBCDIC Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code : This is similar to ASCII Code with 8 bit representation. This coding system is formulated by International Business Machine(IBM). The coding system can handle 256 characters. The input code in ASCII can be converted to EBCDIC system and vice - versa. (iii) ASCII American Standard Code for Information Interchange : This is the most popular encoding system recognized by United States. Most of the computers use this system. ISCII - Indian Standard Code for Information Interchange : ISCII is the system of handling the character of Indian local languages. This as a 8-bit coding system. Therefore it can handle 256 (2 8 ) characters. This system is formulated by the department of Electronics in India in the year and recognized by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Now this coding system is integrated with Unicode. 35. Advantages: (i) It is generally free. (ii) It is continually evolving in real time as developers add to it and modify it, which means it can be better quality and more secure and less prone to bugs. (iii) Using open source software also means the users are not locked into using a particular vendor s system that only work with their other system. (iv) The user can modify and adapt open source software for own business requirements. (v) More reliable and flexible. Disadvantages: (i) Open source software might not be as user friendly as commercial versions because less attention is paid to developing the user interface. (ii) Open source software do not come with extensive support when things go wrong - open source software tends to rely on its community of users to respond to and fix problems. (iii) Open source software may still be involved in collecting indirect costs for external support. (iv) Vulnerable to malicious users. A Microprocessor s performance depends on the following characteristics: (a) Clock speed (b) Instruction set (c) Word size (a) Clock Speed : Every microprocessor has an internal clock that regulates the speed at which it executes instructions. The speed at which the microprocessor executes instructions is called clock speed. Clock speed is measured in MHz (Mega Hertz) or in GHz (Giga Hertz). (b) Instruction set : A command which is given to a computer to perform an operation on data is called an instruction. Basic set of machine level instructions that a microprocessor is designed to execute is called as an instruction set. This instruction set carries out the following types of operations: Data transfer, Arithmetic operations, Logical operations, Control flow, Input/output. (c) Word Size : The number of bits that can be processed by a processor in a single instruction is called its word size. Word size determines the amount of RAM that can be accessed by a microprocessor at one time and the total number of pins on the microprocessor. Total number of input and output pins in turn determines the architecture of the microprocessor. 36. (i) Click Edit -> Find & Replace Ctrl + F (ii) The Find & Replace dialog box appears. Steps to find and replace a text : (i) Type the text you want to find in the Search for box. (ii) To replace the text with different text, type the new text in the Replace with box. (iii) Click Find button, to start the search, the found word is highlighted and (iv) To replace text, click Replace button. (v) Click Find All, Writer selects all instances of the search text in the document. (vi) Click Replace All button, Writer replaces all matches. (vii) Enable Match case to perform the search case sensitively so that uppercase and lower cases are distinguished separately. (viii) Enable Whole Words only to make the search more specific to words used separately alone. 7

8 8 (i) Bullets : This is a paragraph level attribute that applies a bullet character to the start of the paragraph. In bulleted lists, each paragraph begins with a bullet character. Bullets are quickly created by clicking on the bullet icon. (ii) Numbering : This attribute applies a numeral to the start of the paragraph. Numbering is more suitable when the text has to be presented as a sequence. The numbers in a numbered list are updated automatically when you add or remove paragraphs in the list. Numbering is quickly created by clicking on the numbering icon. To apply Numbering : (i) Select the text to be numbered (ii) Format Bullets and Numbering (iii) Select numbering type tab (iv) The bullet and numbering dialog box appears where different styles of numbering are displayed (v) Click on the particular style. (vi) Click Ok button. (vii) The selected text is numbered. The bullets and numbering dialog box with the numbering tab is displayed. Turning off Bullets and Numbering : As you can quickly add bullets or numbers to existing text by clicking on the icons, the bullets and numbers can be removed easily. (i) Select the text where the bullets and numbers are to be removed. (ii) Click on the bullets icon again to remove bullets. (iii) Click on the numbering icon again to remove numbering. 37. (i) The desktop version of Ubuntu supports all normal software on Windows such as Firefox, Chrome, VLC, etc. (ii) It supports the office suite called LibreOffice. (iii) Ubuntu has an in-built software called Thunderbird, which gives the user access to such as Exchange, Gmail, Hotmail, etc. (iv) There are free applications for users to view and edit photos, to manage and share videos. (vi) It is easy to find content on Ubuntu with the smart searching facility. The Drawing toolbar : The Drawing toolbar contains tools that are used to create graphic objects. If this toolbar is not showing, select View Toolbars Drawing from the main menu bar. Select: selects objects. You can select multiple objects by dragging the mouse. Line: draws a straight line. Arrow: draws a straight line ending with an arrowhead. The arrowhead will be placed where you release the mouse button. Rectangle: draws a rectangle. Press the Shift button to draw a square. Ellipse: draws an ellipse. Press the Shift button to draw a circle. Text: creates a text box with the text aligned horizontally. Vertical text: creates a text box with the text aligned vertically. Curve: draws a curve. Connectors: draws a connector line between two figures. Click the black triangle for additional connectors. 38. Write steps to generate the following series in Calc worksheet. Filtering : Filter is a way of limiting the information that appears on screen. The visible records satisfy the condition that the user sets. Those that do not satisfy the condition are only hidden, but not removed. OpenOffice Calc allows three types of filters. They are AutoFilter, Standard Filter and Advanced Filter. Auto Filter: Auto Filter applies a drop-down list box to each field (columns) filled with similar data available in that field. Using the list box item, you can filter the data that matches the criteria of the data concerned. Using Auto Filter: Click Auto Filter icon available on the Standard tools bar Click Data Filter Auto Filter The list box contains similar data in the fields. Each list box item will be considered as filter criteria. Removing Auto Filter: To remove auto filter, click Auto filter icon once again. The original table is displayed without filter. Standard Filter: Auto filter is used only for single criteria on a data, whereas the Standard filter is used for multiple critieria to filter. The normal view is the typical view used for creating and viewing presentation slides. Booting of computer: (i) An Operating system (OS) is a basic software that makes the computer to work. When a computer is switched on, there is no information in its RAM. (ii) At the same time, in ROM, the pre-written program called POST (Power on Self Test) will be executed first. This program checks if the devices like RAM, keyboard, etc., are connected properly and ready to operate. If these devices are ready, then the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) gets executed. This process is called Booting. (iii) Thereafter, a program called Bootstrap Loader transfers OS from hard disk into main memory. Now the OS gets loaded (Windows/ Linux, etc.,) and will get executed. Booting process is of two types. Cold Booting, Warm Booting. (iv) Cold Booting: When the system starts from initial state i.e. it is switched on, we call it cold booting or Hard Booting. When the user presses the Power button, the instructions are read from the ROM to initiate the booting process. 13

14 14 (v) Warm Booting: When the system restarts or when Reset button is pressed, we call it Warm Booting or Soft Booting. The system does not start from initial state and so all diagnostic tests need not be carried out in this case. There are chances of data loss and system damage as the data might not have been stored properly. (i) Unicode is the newest concept in digital coding. In Unicode, every number has a unique character. (ii) Unicode is the universal character encoding standard used for representation of text for computer processing. (iii) It can be used to store and process all significant current and past languages. Unicode provides a unique hex encoded number for every character. (iv) Unicode is a 16 bit code, which allows for about 65,000 different representations. This is enough to encode the popular Asian languages (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.). (v) It also turns out that ASCII codes are preserved. Therefore, conversion between ASCII and Unicode is a simple method (take all one byte ASCII codes and zero-extend them to 16 bits). (vi) This will be the Unicode version of the ASCII characters. The C, C++ programs use the ASCII Code, and Java programs have already used Unicode. (vii) The Unicode Standard has been adopted by industry leaders such as Apple, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Sun, Sybase, and Unisys. Unicode is required by web users and modern standards. 35. A Microprocessor s performance depends on the following characteristics: Clock speed, Instruction set, Word size. Clock Speed : (i) Every microprocessor has an internal clock that regulates the speed at which it executes instructions. Clock speed is measured in MHz (Mega Hertz) or in GHz (Giga Hertz). Instruction set : (i) A command which is given to a computer to perform an operation on data is called an instruction. (ii) Basic set of machine level instructions that a microprocessor is designed to execute is called as an instruction set. This instruction set carries out the following types of operations: Data transfer, Arithmetic operations, Logical operations, Control flow, Input/output. Word Size : (i) The number of bits that can be processed by a processor in a single instruction is called its word size. (ii) Word size determines the amount of RAM that can be accessed by a microprocessor at one time and the total number of pins on the microprocessor. (iii) Total number of input and output pins in turn determines the architecture of the microprocessor. The main purpose of using an operating system: (i) It controls and co-ordinates all the activities of a computer system. (ii) It provides an environment for a computer user to execute programs on computer hardware in a convenient and efficient manner. (iii) It enable the user to design the application, and also it provides an interface to interact with the computer aand controls the execution of all kinds of programs without knowing the internals of the hardware. (iv) It interprets the command and instructions to perform the specified tasks. (v) It co-ordinates and assigns the compilers, assemblers, utility programs to the users. (vi) It detects errors present in the hardwares and softwares.

(ii) Double-click over this icon, the related application gets invoked. Shortcut Icons: (i) These icons point to a particular application or file or folder. (iii) This represents the shortcut form to open a particular application, Document Icons: Active document window which is a window within an application window is called as the document icon. Changing or setting page margins in open office writer can be done in two ways: (i) Using the Page rulers quick and easy, but does not have precise values. (ii) Using the Page Style dialog box can specify precise values for the margins. By using page ruler: (i) The shaded sections of the rulers are the margins. (ii) Hold the mouse pointer over the line between the gray and white sections. (iii) The mouse pointer turns into a double-headed arrow. (iv) Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to move the margin and release it at the required point. (v) The new margin is set. Using the Page Style dialog box: To change margins using the Page Style dialog box (i) Right-click anywhere on the page and select Page from the popup menu or select page tab of page style dialog box. (ii) In the Margins boxes, specify the values for left, right, top and bottom margins. (iii) Click on OK button. Displays the page style dialog box showing the margins. 37. Sheets count: Shows current serial number of the sheet / total number of sheets available. Page Style: Shows the page style of the current sheet. To make changes, just double-click on Default and it will show you the Page Style dialog box, which is used to change the margin, orientation, paper size, inserting header, footer, border style etc., Selection Mode: Shows the selection mode of the current sheet. There are three modes available to select the cells of a worksheet. They are, Standard (STD), Extend (EXT) and Add (ADD). Unsaved Changes: An asterisk ( * ) symbol indicates the changes made in the worksheet that are not yet saved. If you saved your changes, it will disappear. Cell information: Shows the sum of the values of selected cells. Zoom slider: used to increase or decrease the view scale (zoom). The default zooming scale is 100%. Step 1: (i) Select Data Filter Standard Filter. (ii) Now, the entire data is selected and Standard Filter dialog box displays. Step 2 : (i) Select the column heading from the Filed name list box for first criteria. (ii) Select conditional operator such as >, <, = etc., from Condition list box. (iii) Type or select the value of critera in the Value box. Step 3: (i) Select the one of the logical operator (And/ Or) from Operator list box to fix second criteria. From this dialog box, click the load button to load more slide designs. The load design dialog box appears. Select the presentation. Backgrounds option from the categories list box and its relation option shown in the name list box. After these options are selected, click the OK button to close the load slide design dialog box. The slide design dialog box reappears, then click OK to close it. The selected slide design is applied to the selected slide. Do the above to apply the slide design to other slides. b. Handouts. (i) Normal, Outline, Notes, Handout and Slide Sorter, These five tabs are called View Buttons. (ii) The actual Workspace section is below the View Buttons. This is where you assemble the various parts of your selected slide. Each view is designed to ease the completion of certain tasks. (iv) Outline view shows topic titles, bulleted lists and numbered lists for each slide in outline format. Use this view to rearrange the order of slides, edit titles and headings, rearrange the order of items in a list and add new slides. (v) Notes view lets you add notes to each slide that are not seen when the presentation is shown. (vi) Slide Sorter view shows a thumbnail of each slide in order. Use this view to rearrange the order of slides, produce a timed slide show, or add transitions between selected slides.
