Erfaringer # 1/2 Bygge opp tillit og troverdighet Ethvert initiativ krever at én/flere fra Norge besøker (og faktisk arbeider!) med samarbeidspartner(ne) i Kina min 2 ganger i året, min 2 uker hver gang. Student- og forskerutveksling Samarbeid vil styrkes ved å ha kinesiske studenter i Norge, f.eks. 3 mnd om gangen. Hver student bør ha sin egen mentor i Norge. Kjennskap til kinesernes tenke- og væremåte, kultur og historie Dersom en ikke har inngående kjennskap til Kina, bør en ha hjelp fra/med seg en kineser som kjenner både norsk og kinesisk tenke- og væremåte, kultur og historie (som f.eks. Yongqi Gao for NZC). Beslutninger og avtaler blir f.eks. oftest gjort under middager! Tidsaspekt & tilstedeværelse Det tar 2-4 år å bygge opp en aktivitet sammen.
Erfaringer # 2/2 Språk Kinesiske studenter - og til dels forskere - er gjerne ikke spesielt gode i muntlig engelsk, så tålmodighet er nødvendig i begynnelsen! (men deres lærekurve er bratt!!). Dette er bedre i 2014 enn i 2003! Fokuser! Sannsynligvis bedre med et fåtall dedikerte initiativ enn mange tilfeldige initiativ. Prosjekt vs. langsiktig institusjonelt samarbeide. Valg av samarbeidspartner Det er svært mange aktører både på Universitetene og under Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Samarbeidet vil generelt tjene på å initieres med allerede sterke forskningsgrupper (sjekk publikasjonslisten!) Muligheter Fantastiske! Raskt økende økonomi, vekst på mer enn 20% pr år i forskning. Ikke mye byråkrati, meget hyggelige studenter/forskere. Formalisert bilateralt studentutdannelse UiB-Kina (a la Bologna ) Store muligheter!
