Academic level. Present interpretation: Scientific production at least corresponding to three doctoral dissertations in quality and scope. Scope is generally understood as a) depth, meaning scientific production in at least two separate areas, equivalent to one high quality dissertation in each area; breadth, meaning a third area (equivalent to a third dissertation) which represents scientific production in- or outside the two former areas. As for the latter, breadth should be demonstrated by addressing different problems, applying different theories or methods. 5 Torvald Øgaard

Quantity (Extent) supplementary guidelines from the Norwegian National Conference of Faculties of Social Science, the following minimum standard should be used: Three Ph.D. s: A guiding norm can be that the scientific output (including the doctoral degree) should be equal to eight to twelve full length journal articles... Co-authors? The applicant must have contributed substantially to all the works and be the main responsible for the research work and presentation of the majority (two thirds) of the works. Scope The demand for scope shall help secure that the applicant is qualified for teaching and supervising at an advanced level within more than one specialty. The output should comprise different classes of problems, themes and research methods. The applicant should have shown ability to position own works within a wider context. Independence and cooperation : The applicant must have proved that she or he can perform all central parts of a research task alone and with high quality. This can be documented through works where the applicant is the solo author (alternatively first author in disciplines where this signals main responsibility for the work), through depositions from co-authors, or through experience from project management. In addition, positive weight shall be put on research cooperation and project management. 10 Torvald Øgaard
Visibility: The works should be published (or accepted for publication) in channels that have adequate quality control and where they can reach other researchers who may build on or criticize the results. This usually means publishing through international channels, but when the theme calls for it, publishing through national channels is acceptable. Noen råd: Reis med paper på de gode konferansene! Velg deg et område i tillegg til doktorgraden (Det må skille seg i tema, teoretisk forankring og eller metode.) Der du skal lage fire gode paper, helst slik at de er kumulative Har teoretiske bidrag og Bruker riktige og oppdaterte metoder SEM,,,, flernivå,,,,,, Kvalitative analyseprogram, troverdighet etc. Hold doktorgraden din «varm»: Skriv et paper som viser at du er aktiv på feltet. Skriv noen paper til på et tredje «område» Ikke la det sprike for mye, pass på at de faller innenfor området du vil kvalifisere deg på Bli leder av et prosjekt eller to Delta i administrativt arbeid/fagrelatert arbeid Undervis, ta undervisningsutdanningen og lag gjerne et didaktisk/pedagogisk paper. 14 Torvald Øgaard
