Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (ET) at Kenan Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU with Todd Harris calling the play-by-play and J.C. Pearson providing the color commentary. The Blue Devils have won three straight games after earning a win at Virginia last weekend. The Tar Heels are coming off a road win over No. 14 Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct. 29. Last Time Out Thaddeus Lewis led a fourth quarter comeback at Virginia, throwing for 136 of his 343 yards in the fi nal stanza including a 42-yard go-ahead touchdown pass to Conner Vernon on 3rd-and-9 with 3:45 remaining. Charlie Hatcher tacked on a seven-yard fumble return for a touchdown and Will Snyderwine put the game away with a 44-yard fi eld goal, his fi fth made fi eld goal of the day. The one-hour tailgate show is hosted by John Roth. Two-time Broadcaster of the Year Bob Harris, the voice of the Blue Devils for the past 33 seasons, calls all the action for Duke fans each game. He was inducted into the Stanly County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Sports Hall of Fame in Analyst Wes Chesson joins Harris in the booth each game and is in his 30th season providing color commentary for Duke games. This season Duke has posted several accomplishments in the win column both overall and in the ACC. Duke Tied For Second In Turnover Margin The Blue Devils have a +4 turnover margin this season, which is tied for second best in the ACC with Florida State. Duke has caused 14 turnovers while committing only 10. The 10 giveaways are tied for fewest in the league with Virginia Tech. 4 Game 9 - Duke vs. - Nov. 7, Offensive Notes Duke Averaging 400 Yards Per Game The Blue Devils are averaging yards per game to rank fourth in the ACC. Duke leads the league with passing yards per game and is averaging 75.2 yards per contest on the ground. The average is 96.6 yards per game more than what the Blue Devils averaged a year ago when they ranked 10th in the conference in total offense. Duke has managed to put up better passing numbers than what each team s defense was allowing entering the game. At N.C. State, the Blue Devils took the opening kick and drove 70 yards in 11 plays, scoring on a two-yard pass from Thaddeus Lewis to Brett Huffman. Against N.C. Central, Duke put together a fi ve-play drive, covering 59 yards that resulted in a touchdown on a 14-yard run by redshirt freshman Patrick Kurunwune. Over the last fi ve games, the Blue Devils have averaged 33.8 points per game and own a third down conversion percentage of.494. In the fi rst three outings, Duke converted just 21.4 percent of its third downs and averaged 17.0 points per game. 500 Yards Of Offense At N.C. State Duke tallied 502 yards of total offense in its last game against N.C. State with 459 passing yards and 43 rushing yards. The 502 yards were the most by a Blue Devil team since 2007 when Duke had 506 yards in a loss at Navy. That game was also the last time Duke recorded over 400 passing yards as the Blue Devils had 429 against the Midshipmen. Against the Wolfpack, Duke converted 13-of-19 (.684) third downs. Prior to the game, N.C. State led the conference in total defense, allowing only yards per game. The 459 yards were over half (862) what the Wolfpack allowed in its fi rst fi ve games combined. Blue Devils Have Success Against Virginia Tech The Duke offense tallied 397 yards of total offense, including 359 passing yards against Virginia Tech. Entering the game, the Hokies defense was allowing total yards and just passing yards per game. Virginia Tech also had allowed just one passing touchdown and an ACC-low pass effi ciency of 84.9 in its fi rst four games. Duke s Thaddeus Lewis threw two TD passes and recorded a quarterback rating of against the Hokies. Duke Football Game Notes 200 Yards Rushing and Passing Duke tallied 487 yards of total offense against N.C. Central. The Blue Devils rushed for a season-high 233 yards while passing for 254 in the game. It is the fi rst time since Oct. 27, 2001, against Vanderbilt that Duke has rushed and passed for over 200 yards in a game. The 233 rushing yards were also the most since the Blue Devils gained 218 yards on the ground to open up the 2008 season against James Madison. Back For Final Season Lewis is now in his fourth season as Duke s starting quarterback and has tallied 9,050 passing yards and 62 passing touchdowns in 43 career games.
