The game will be televised on ESPNU with Carter Blackburn calling the play-by-play and Charles Arbuckle providing the color commentary. The Blue Devils are coming off a loss to Tech in the ACC opener while the Wolfpack lost to, 30-24, on the road to open ACC play. Last Time Out Duke tallied 397 yards of total offense, including a 359-yard, two touchdown performance from Thaddeus Lewis, but lost its ACC opener, 34-26, against Tech. The Hokies Tyrod Taylor had a career-high 327 passing yards on 17-of-22 attempts and two touchdowns in the win. Jarrett Boykin was his main target with six catches for 144 yards and one touchdown, while Josh Oglesby had two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils received a strong performance from freshman wide receiver Conner Vernon, who caught four passes for 128 yards. The one-hour tailgate show is hosted by John Roth. Two-time Broadcaster of the Year Bob Harris, the voice of the Blue Devils for the past 33 seasons, calls all the action for Duke fans each game. He was inducted into the Stanly County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Sports Hall of Fame in Analyst Wes Chesson joins Harris in the booth each game and is in his 30th season providing color commentary for Duke games. 3 Game 6 - Duke vs. - Oct. 10, Offensive Notes Pass Offense Among ACC Best Duke s passing offense leads the ACC and ranks 16th nationally this season, averaging yards per game. The Blue Devil quarterbacks have thrown for 1,428 yards, making Duke one of six ACC schools with over 1,000 passing yards. The Blue Devils are tied for second in the conference with 11 passing touchdowns. ACC Passing Offense 1. Duke Florida State ACC Passing Touchdowns Duke Boston College Blue Devils Have Success Against Tech The Duke offense tallied 397 yards of total offense, including 359 passing yards against Tech. Entering the game, the Hokies defense was allowing total yards and just passing yards per game. Tech also had allowed just one passing touchdown and an ACC-best pass effi ciency of 84.9 in its fi rst four games. Duke s Thaddeus Lewis threw two TD passes and recorded a quarterback rating of against the Hokies. Duke On Opening Drive The Blue Devils have scored touchdowns on their fi rst offensive possession in two of the fi ve games this season. Against N.C. Central, Duke put together a fi ve-play drive, covering 59 yards that resulted in a touchdown on a 14-yard run by redshirt freshman Patrick Kurunwune. Duke drove 87 yards in just two plays for a touchdown on its fi rst drive at Kansas. Senior Thaddeus Lewis connected with Austin Kelly for a 66-yard pass on the Blue Devils fi rst offensive play. The Blue Devils rushed for a season-high 233 yards while passing for 254 in the game. It is the fi rst time since Oct. 27, 2001, against Vanderbilt that Duke has rushed and passed for over 200 yards in a game. The 233 rushing yards were also the most since the Blue Devils gained 218 yards on the ground to open up the season against James Madison. Inside the Numbers... Duke Scores 49 Points In Win Over N.C. Central Duke posted its highest point total since 1994 in a win over N.C. Central. The 49 points are the most since a 51-point performance against on Oct. 22, Duke has scored 40 or more points twice under David Cutcliffe with a 41-point game against Navy last season. When scoring 40 or more points, Cutcliffe has a career record of He is 33-8 when scoring at least 30 points, including 2-0 this season and 5-2 overall with the Blue Devils. Daniels and Tech s Cody Grimm are the only two players in the ACC with three caused fumbles. 3 Junior wide receiver Austin Kelly has now caught fi ve or more passes in three consecutive games. On the year, Kelly leads Duke with 25 receptions including six for 43 yards and a touchdown last week versus Tech. 4 Junior kicker Will Snyderwine booted four fi eld goals last week against Tech covering 29, 25, 47 and 43 yards. The four fi eld goals are the most by a Blue Devil kicker since Sims Lenhardt connected on four attempts versus Northwestern in Redshirt junior tight end Brandon King now has fi ve career touchdown receptions following his 48- yard scoring catch against Tech. The fi ve TD catches rank tied for eighth on Duke s career chart for scoring grabs by a tight end. 11 Last week against Virgina Tech, the Blue Devils put together three scoring drives of 11 or more snaps. 16 Senior quarterback Thaddeus Lewis has thrown two or more touchdown passes in 16 career games. 20 Lewis now owns a touchdown-to-interception difference of +20 for his career, tossing 54 touchdowns opposed to 34 interceptions. Lewis has displayed marked improvement in this area since arriving in Durham, struggling during his rookie campaign with 11 TDs and 16 interceptions. Since the beginning of 2007 season, Lewis has thrown for 43 touchdowns with just 18 interceptions in 28 contests. 54 Lewis has 54 career touchdown passes, one shy of matching Ben Bennett s school record of 55 career touchdown passes. It will also tie him for 11th all-time in the ACC. He is looking to become the 15th quarterback in ACC history with 8,000 career passing yards. He is 127 yards away from Steve Slayden for third all-time at Duke. 192 In last week s loss to then sixth-ranked Tech, freshman wide receiver Conner Vernon totaled 192 all-purpose yards. The, Fla., native had four receptions for 128 yards while returning three kickoffs for an additional 64 yards. 271 Vernon has 271 receiving yards this season and already ranks eighth on Duke s single season receiving yards list for freshmen. Walter Jones holds the school record for yards by a freshman with 578. Vernon ranks fourth in the ACC with 67.8 receiving yards per game. 350 With his 359-yard outing last week against Tech, Lewis has now thrown for 350 or more yards in three career games. He is one of six quarterbacks in Duke history to have three or more performances of 350+ yards, joining Anthony Dilweg (7), Ben Bennett (6), Spence Fischer (5), Dave Brown (4) and Steve Slayden (3). Quarterbacks Share Time Lewis and redshirt freshman Sean Renfree have shared snaps this season. Lewis has started all fi ve games this season, playing on 49 of Duke s 61 offensive series. He has completed 94-of-163 pass attempts for 1,142 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. Renfree has appeared in 13 series, completing 29-of-43 pass attempts for 286 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
