Foto: Jørn Lavo nsoll 2017 About Konsoll In 2011 the Norwegian Game Developers Guild formed Konsoll, to strengthen and nurture the growing Norwegian gaming industry. Konsoll is a two day event held annually in Bergen, bringing together game developers from all over Norway and abroad to listen to world-class speakers. The two days consist of presentations, panels, workshops, expo, and discussions. The conference also serves as a forum to strengthen the ties between Norwegian game developers, while allowing the Norwegian studios to connect with the broader international industry. Konsoll attracts more than 350 professional game developers and students from Norway and around the world who come to Bergen eager to hear the latest insights and experiences in the game development industry. In addition to our attendees, Konsoll 2017 had over 2000 international and Norwegian individuals watching our live-stream. Unlike most developer conferences, Konsoll is non-profit, driven by volunteers dedicated to the growing game development environment in Norway. Konsoll also strengthens the Norwegian industry by inviting local developers and studios to speak; such as Bergen-based D-Pad Studio with its internationally critically acclaimed game Owlboy, and Funcom, creator of the renowned Conan Exiles. 2
Why Konsoll? Konsoll is the largest game developers event in Norway, attracting attendees from all over the country and abroad. At Konsoll we focus both on established game developers and game development students, ensuring a professional arena. Our atmosphere is relaxed and casual, allowing all attendees to communicate with the speakers and other participants. Professional speakers offer advice and share real-life experience with developers. 3
Education Konsoll collaborates with Bergen University College, the University of Bergen, Nordahl Grieg Higher Education, Kristiania College, Åsane Folkehøgskole, Noroff and others to provide exclusive offers for students including exclusive ticketing options and additional, tailored lectures. Foto: Pål Hamre Foto: Jørn Lavoll With the support of the Bergen Public Library, Konsoll is proud to run a pre-conference student day event. Throughout the day, game development students from all over Norway visit and interact with game industry companies here in Bergen. This gives the students an opportunity to briefly experience life in a game development environment, and meet people in their field. The day culminates with an open lecture delivered by a respected industry veteran from the conference. Konsoll Connect Konsoll collaborates with Casual Connect to oversee a pitching competition for investors. Several Norwegian game developers present their projects to both local and international investors, gaining valuable experience in both marketing their work, and fostering potential investor relationships. The winners of Konsoll Connect are also invited to present their games at Casual Connect s pitching competition. Konsoll Expo Alongside of the conference, Konsoll will be expanding with its first expo. Norwegian game companies will have the opportunity to showcase their games in an allocated area at the conference venue. This expo will be open to conference attendees only. 4

Foto: Jørn Lavoll Quotes Konsoll is my favourite kind of games event, where top-of-class professionals, emerging talent and students can get together and discuss the state of the industry in an intimate atmosphere. I came away very impressed by the enthusiasm of the Norwegian industry, and the hard work of Spillmakerlauget who support them. I really enjoyed learning about Norwegian culture through the people I met and the beautiful city of Bergen, and look forward to returning soon. Ken Wong, Mountains, 2013 Konsoll is a special event which I greatly enjoy with a great vibe and really interesting talks. Two conferences have made me fall in love with the interesting and enthusiastic Norway developers. Honestly my favourite developer event in years. Claire Blackshaw, Sony, 2015 Konsoll is one of the best gaming events I ve ever been to -all the attendees were open to discussion and conversation, and were there to learn and collaborate. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and it was totally worth coming halfway across the world for. With events like Konsoll, and a game dev scene of hungry and engaged folks like those I met at Konsoll, I know that the Nordic game dev scene is on a great path! Matt Conn, GaymerX, 2016 6
