Assessment methods The goal of student assessments is to stimulate and encourage professional, personal and nursing development. Student assessments are an integrated part of the learning process and ensure close student monitoring through continual and regular feedback throughout the study period. Student assessment in bachelor studies is both summative and formative. The following methods for summative examinations are used: Home exam (individual and group), individual school exam and individual assessment/evaluation of clinical practice studies. Examination and evaluation methods are described under each course. Exams are organized and conducted after the University of Nordland s regulations on examinations. These regulations are subject to University and College legislation. Terms of evaluation are: Pass/Fail or a grading scale from A to F. Sensor guidance and/or criteria for evaluation is the basis for grading. Formative assessment, or evaluation, gives the student periodical feedback on the learning process. Self-evaluation and teacher and student responses are vital parts of the formative assessment. In clinical studies, preceptor nurses from the clinical area of practice are present and contribute to the formative evaluation. Examination regulations, assessment and grading: Examination regulations can be found in regulations for studies and exams at University of Nordland (UiN) as well as the special regulations Regulations for examination candidates at UiN. The Norwegian assessment and grading system uses the letter grades A-F, in which A denotes the best grade and F denotes failed. Grades can also be given as: passed / not passed or approved / not approved. Qualifications requirements and regulations Here we refer to Regulations pertaining to studies and exams at University of Nordland (UiN) as well as local regulations and directives, see University Rules and Regulations.
