Introduction The one year programme in Human Resource Management at the University of Nordland is a study programme in human resources management enabling people from the business and public sectors to improve their competence and skills in management and personnel functions. In Helgeland the programme vil go with intensive lecture weeks. General description and profile of the programme The job market today does not just involve the number of jobs available; it also concerns the quality of jobs. In times of rapid change in both the private and public
sectors, developing jobs presents major challenges. Personnel policy can therefore prove crucial for the maintenance of jobs and opportunities in order to retain the skilled and educated workforce. Learning outcomes The purpose of this study program is to give students a basic understanding and knowledge of personnel management and human resource development in a work place in constant change.
