Dear customer, Stamps interest people! We saw a good example of that when, in collaboration with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, we organised a popularity poll to find the fourth subject for our Eurovision Song Contest stamps. Musician and singer Jahn Teigen was the clear winner of the poll. The other subjects are Bobbysocks, Secret Garden and Alexander Rybak. The stamps were issued on 18 May and the designer responsible for them was Jørn Olaf Jøntvedt of Making Waves. The town of Molde has made a name for itself as Norway s jazz capital, and this year will bring the 50th Molde Jazz Festival. Jazz pioneer Nils Petter Molvær has been chosen to represent all the great Norwegian and international stars who have visited the Festival over the years. The designer of this stamp is Benjamin Stenmarck of Neue Design. It was the fight against tuberculosis that led to the founding of the Norwegian National Health Association one hundred years ago. The Association is being honoured with its own stamp designed by Sverre Morken. Our next information leaflet will be issued in September but before that, on 20 August, a set of stamps will be issued to mark 50 years of television in Norway. NK 1755 The Bobbysocks duo, Elisabeth Andreassen and Hanne Krogh, gave Norway its first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest when they came out top in Gothenburg in 1985 with La det swinge, which was composed by Rolf Løvland. NOK 80 PeR set OSLO 18.05. 2010 NK 1756 Norway celebrated its second ESC victory in 1995 with Nocturne performed by Secret Garden, consisting of Rolf Løvland and Fionnuala Sherry. The song was composed by Rolf Løvland. This duo has since enjoyed great international success, not least with You raise me up, which has been recorded by several artistes. NK 1757 In 2009 Alexander Rybak was responsible for Norway s third victory in the Eurovision Song Contest. His song Fairytale was an immediate favourite with European audiences and was awarded a record-high number of points. NK 1758 Norway Post invited the Norwegian public to vote for their favourite Norwegian ESC personality for the fourth stamp. Jahn Teigen won by a huge majority. Teigen is possibly best known for Mil etter mil which was awarded nil points in the international final in 1978. This year s contest presented the audience to participants that would later become renowned solo artists, such as Monica Zetterlund, Francoise Hardy and Nana Mouskouri. Arne Bendiksen sang Spiral til en åttendeplass. Han var også mannen bak klassikeren La meg være ung, som ble sunget av wenche Myhre i den norske finalen, men som kun nådde tredjeplassen der. Senere samme år ble sangen imidlertid en stor hit i Norge. To år senere vant hun Deutsche Schlagerfestspiele og fikk sitt gjennombrudd i Vest-Tyskland. Arne Bendiksen hadde også låten Hvor med i samme norske finale, så han konkurrerte faktisk med seg selv dette året. Please use the order coupon. Exhibition cards 2010 Norway Post is attending a number of stamp exhibitions and fairs around the world again this year. The fantastic illustrations on this year s exhibition cards are the work of Neue Design and present familiar landmarks in the exhibition cities. This year s spring exhibitions were in Antwerp, Essen, London and Borås. The cards for these exhibitions will be delivered to subscribers in June. NOK 103.20 Collector s Troll No. 14 This spring s Collector s Troll has been in Lofoten and brought back a king-size fish. He has also brought back the Lofoten tourist stamp issued on 16 April 2010 (NK 1754). The Troll is made of a plastic material and is handdecorated.
