On the way home from a demonstration in 2014 he was detained and tortured at three different locations by members of the Bolivarian National Guard. They kicked him in the head and ribs, took turns hitting him, whipped him with a leather cord and made verbal threats. After a night filled with physical and verbal aggression, he was finally able to see a doctor. The following day he was released on parole. I urge you to open an investigation into the allegations of torture and illtreatment suffered by Daniel Quintero in February 2014, and to ensure that it is thoroughly, independently and impartially investigated. If the investigation confirms the torture allegations, I call on you to refer the case for public prosecution, and that all those responsible are brought to justice. Furthermore, I call on you to protect the alleged victims, witnesses and their families, and make sure that they are not subject to any violence, threats of violence or any other form of intimidation that may occur as a result of the investigation. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on 2 July 2013 in a mass trial together with 94 other activists, all accused of attempting to overthrow the government. The trial was grossly unfair and marred by a catalogue of human rights violations. The defendants were denied access to lawyers, held in solitary confinement, and there have been several reports about torture being used to extract confessions. I urge you to release Dr Mohammed al-roken immediately and unconditionally as he is a prisoner of conscience held solely for peacefully exercising his rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly. Further, I urge you to ensure that Dr al-roken and the other prisoners are protected from torture and other ill-treatment, that they are taken out of solitary confinement, given any medical attention they may require, and granted regular visits from their families and legal representatives of their choice. Finally, I am calling on you to respect and protect the rights to freedom of expression and association, and to restore Dr Mohammed al-roken s license to practice law. In 2012 he was apprehended by 10 police officers accusing him of robbery and killing a foreigner and a police officer. He was then subjected to violence by the policemen before being dragged to the nearest police station. While in detention over night, he was continously tortured while the police officers were trying to force a confession out of him. They kept calling him Boyet and refused to let him show his identification that conformed that this was not his name. The next day he was forced to sign a document that he did not get the chance to read, and then drug charges were filed against him. I urge you to afford Jerryme Corre adequate legal support to ensure that his torture complaint is given the best possible chance for successful prosecution and to defend himself in the criminal case against him. Further, I urge you to thoroughly investigate the torture and ill-treatment that Jerryme Corre suffered, and suspend all police officers that were involved while the investigation is conducted. Following the results of the investigation the police officers that took part in the mistreatment of Jerryme Corre should be prosecuted and penalties should be imposed. Finally, I am calling on you to ensure that the drug charges against Jerryme Corre are investigated thoroughly and that he is afforded a fair trial with undue delays. John Jeanette har vært transperson i hele sitt liv, og ønsker at det skal være samsvar mellom hennes kjønnsidentitet og hennes juridiske kjønn. Derfor søkte hun Helse- og omsorgsdepartementet i mars 2014 om å få endre sitt juridiske kjønn. Hennes søknad ble avslått. Anerkjennelse av juridisk kjønn er viktig for ivaretakelsen av transpersoners menneskerettigheter. Transpersoner står i fare for å bli utsatt for omfattende diskriminering når de fremviser offentlige dokumenter som ikke gjenspeiler deres faktiske kjønnsidentitet og kjønnsuttrykk. Jeg oppfordrer deg derfor til å la John Jeannette få endre sitt juridiske kjønn, herunder kjønnsmarkører på offisielle dokumenter utstedt av staten. Jeg oppfordrer deg videre til å fremme et lovforslag som snarest etablerer en rask, tilgjengelig og åpen prosedyre som sikrer transpersoner muligheten til en juridisk anerkjennelse av kjønn i samsvar med den enkeltes oppfatning av egen kjønnsidentitet. Denne prosedyren må fjerne krav om sterilisering og andre medisinske inngrep som i dag stilles til transpersoner som ønsker å endre juridisk kjønn i Norge. Liu Ping and the two other activists she was detained with were held in custody for for six months, even though Chinese law states that the maximum is three months. While in prison, Liu Ping states that she was tortured and abused by a female police officer. There are also concerns about her health, as she has not been given access to adequate medical care. I am calling on you to release Liu Ping immediately and unconditionally, as she is a prisoner of conscience targeted for her long-term peaceful activism. I also urge you to protect her from torture and other ill-treatment, as well as making sure that she receives any medical attention she may require. In May 2014 he was jailed and charged for creating the Saudi Arabian Liberals website and insulting Islam. For this he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, 1,000 lashes, a hefty fine, a 10-year travel ban, and a ban on expressing his opinion publicly through media/social media tools. I hereby strongly urge the King of Saudi Arabia to immediately and unconditionally release Raif Badawi. He is a prisoner of conscience detained solely for the peaceful exercise of his freedom of expression. I further urge the King of Saudi Arabia to ensure that Raif Badawi is given immediate and regular access to his family and a lawyer of his choice, as well as receiving any medical attention he may require, and that he is protected from future torture or other ill-treatment. Finally, I urge the King of Saudi Arabia to ensure that authorities do not carry out any punishment of flogging, which would violate the prohibition against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment in international law.
