Macbeth: Frozen Scenes Using Frozen Scenes There are several ways to use these scenes 1. Along with the scene one can give the students the lines from the play and ask them to perform their scene with lines. 2. Another way is to simply cut the scenes apart, then hand out the scenes in class to different students. I. The student with the scene is the director. It is the director s job to: a. Choose people (actors) from the class to pose in the scene. b. Tell the actors how to pose. c. Read the scene strip aloud to the rest of the class. II. As the teacher you need to keep the action moving along. Have a master list of scenes and call out the right number. You should also do some explaining between scenes if things are unclear.
Macbeth: Frozen Scenes 1. There is thunder and lightning and three witches discuss where they will meet again, after the battle. 2. On their way from a successful battle, Macbeth and Banquo two Scottish noblemen and friends, meet the three witches. 3. The witches predict that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and that he will be king of Scotland. But they also say that Banquo s descendants will be kings 4. Banquo and Macbeth go to see King Duncan, the present king. He greets them with open arms and makes Macbeth Thane of Cawdor. 5. Macbeth cannot stop thinking about the prophecy. He is now Thane of Cawdor and is sure he will be king. He writes a letter to his wife. 6. Lady Macbeth reads the letter about the prophecy. She is even more ambitious than Macbeth.
7. King Duncan, the present king of Scotland, comes to visit Macbeth. He is greeted as a friend. 8. Lady Macbeth cannot wait for Macbeth to be king so she persuades Macbeth to murder King Duncan using the daggers belonging to the king s men 9. Macbeth kills King Duncan. 10. After the murder, he meets Lady Macbeth in the courtyard. He is still holding the weapons in his hands. She takes the daggers from him and brings them back to the corps. 11. Macbeth says the servants murdered the kind and murders them with before they say anything. 12. The king s sons, Malcolm and Donalbain are afraid they will be blamed for the murder and they flee the country. 13. Macbeth is crowned king of Scotland
14. Macbeth remembers what the witches said about Banquo. He is afraid he will lose his crown, so he sends his men to kill Banquo and Banquo s son, Feance. Fleance escapes 15. At a banquet, Macbeth sees Banquo s ghost. The ghost is sitting in Macbeth s chair when he enters. Macbeth is frightened and leaves the banquet. 16. Macbeth s conscience bothers him and he cannot sleep. 17. Macbeth finds the witches again. The witches tell him that he is safe until the Birnam Wood forest comes to his castle. They also tell him that no man born of a woman can harm him. This makes Macbeth feel invincible. 18. Macbeth learns that Macduff, a nobleman, has fled to England to find Prince Malcom and join his army. Macbeth orders the murder of MacDuff s family: wife and children. 19. Lady Macbeth walks the halls at night constantly rubbing her hands, trying to wash off the blood she thinks is still there. Her servant thinks the queen is mad.
20. An army comes to Dunsinane, Macbeth s castle. Macbeth still feels invincible. 21. Seyton, a servant, tells Macbeth that his wife, the Queen, is dead. 22. Macbeth sees the trees of Birnam Wood move. He is scared but still thinks no man can hurt him. 23. Macduff wants revenge for the loss of his family and kills Macbeth in battle. Macduff was born by c-section, technically not by a woman. 24. Macbeth is dead, Malcom is crowned king and order is restored.
