About api.met.no Primary datasource for Yr is Locationforecast from api.met.no. Available for the general public as well as for Yr. Occational misuse of the service, usually large number of simultaneous requests from new mobile apps or web sites. Handled by requesting the owner to change the traffic pattern and by inserting special filters in our cache to block traffic based on referer or IP-address. Separate subdomains to more effectively detect the source of the «blocking» request and/or add resources to specific users. This can be used to block traffic if needed. Yr is the largest single contributor to the load on api.met.no. But how to deal with external large users... is NLOD adequate and how to follow-up from our side... is userregestration a good idea...
