collecting includes seeking, locating, acquiring, organizing, cataloging, displaying, storing, and maintaining whatever items are of interest to the individual collector.
Some collectors collect only in childhood while others continue to do so throughout their lives and usually modify their aims later in life
Collecting is a practice with a very old cultural history
The collecting hobby is a modern descendant of the cabinet of curiosities which was common among scholars with the means and opportunities to acquire unusual items from the 16th century onwards.
Some novice collectors start purchasing items that appeal to them, and then slowly work at acquiring knowledge about how to build a collection
Others (more cautious or studious types) want to develop some background in the field before starting to buy items.
Many collectors enjoy making a plan for their collections, combining education, stimulation and experimentation to develop a personal collecting style
even those who reject the notion of planned collecting can refine their selection skills with some background information on the methods of collecting.
Collectors magazines are one of the most popular means to learn more about the field.
A potential collector may wish to chat with collectors with similar interests in specialized forums via the Internet
Fellow collectors are usually very happy to share information with new collectors; this includes information about where they have been successful in acquiring their collectibles, where they have struggled and what they are looking for.
1. Limited by announced quantity, with items not numbered
2. Limited by an announced time period that may be more or less than one year
Collectibles experts tend to agree that a collector should begin keeping a record as soon as they start collecting
It is also recommended to take a photograph or video of each item or groups of items where each may be easily identified.
Records can be made in a format suitable for the collector, from a simple spiral notebook to a computer software program designed for collectibles.
At least one website now exists where collectors can permanently register their collections in an online database with a photograph and description of each item.
Caring for a collection requires two main tasks: security and cleaning/maintenance.
Display valuables out of reach of children and pets, and in environments where heat, humidity, and sunlight are controlled.
In terms of maintenance and cleaning of collectibles, the proper advice depends upon the medium and the delicacy of the item involved.
To avoid problems with dust and dirt, many collectors favor frames and display cases with protective glass.
There is no secondary market for an item unless someone is willing to buy it, and an object s value is whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it.
The Internet offers many resources to any collector: personal sites presenting one s collection, online collectible catalogs, dealer/ shops websites displaying their merchandise, Internet trading platforms, collector clubs, autograph club, collector forums and collector mailing lists.
Intangibles
An alternative to collecting physical objects is collecting experiences of some kind, through observation or photography.
A collectable or collectible (aka collector s item) is any object regarded as being of value or interest to a collector.

Rød syenitt finnes i Groruddalen, Oslo.

Because of this emphasis in imaging or the formation of impressions, memory became closely related to the imagination
The way that memory is valued, then, has shifted enormously from the idea of it being a storehouse of data, which, given the right techniques, is recoverable in an ordered manner to the notion that is a key to our emotional understanding of ourselves and the world.
The querying of the accuracy of personal memories also relates to a mistrust of the memories that are constructed and represented as history.
In a nutshell, the subjective, or even fictionalised, aspects of memory now seem to take precedence over trained and disciplined memory and its equivalent in history in the negotiations of the world.
our current obsession with memory derives from a crisis in the belief in a rational structure of temporality
The idea of places in which memory is harboured
Nora expresses the notion as lieux de mémoire, which does not necessarily refer literally to places but to sites that may just as easily be objects or events as actual places

...the function of memory is not only to recall, reconstitute or reconcile the past but also to construct and represent the present
the decontextualisation and recontextualisation of materials and objects
In this, he recognizes that associative value is perhaps more important than authenticity
This contextualisation also serves as a reminder that memory is always formed at specific times and in specific places, a mental image of which assists in the recall of an event, experience or fact (even learning by rote happens in particular conjunctions of time and place)
For instance, several new media psychogeographic projects have been based on memories of the inhabitants of a particular part of a city or town and have involved subjective mapping of the locality
In terms of memory, this alternative mapping of the world is a clear exposé of the slipperiness or compromise of data of any sort, official or alternative, and, in particular, of the essential nonobjectivity of maps.
Now so long, Marianne, it s time that we began to laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again.
Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear Did you ever go clear?
It s four in the morning, the end of December I m writing you now just to see if you re better
And Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear -- Sincerely, L. Cohen
Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes I thought it was there for good so I never tried.
Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder You d been to the station to meet every train And you came home without Lili Marlene
I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel, you were talking so brave and so sweet, giving me head on the unmade bed, while the limousines wait in the street.
I never once heard you say, I need you, I don t need you, I need you, I don t need you and all of that jiving around
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception
I don t mean to suggest that I loved you the best, I can t keep track of each fallen robin. I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel, that s all, I don t even think of you that often.
Everybody knows that you love me baby Everybody knows that you really do Everybody knows that you ve been faithful Ah give or take a night or two Everybody knows you ve been discreet But there were so many people you just had to meet Without your clothes And everybody knows
If you want a partner Take my hand Or if you want to strike me down in anger Here I stand I m your man
If you want a boxer I will step into the ring for you And if you want a doctor I ll examine every inch of you
If you want a driver Climb inside Or if you want to take me for a ride You know you can I m your man
Oh everybody knows, everybody knows That s how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows
Give me back my broken night my mirrored room, my secret life it s lonely here, there s no one left to torture Give me absolute control over every living soul And lie beside me, baby, that s an order!
I saw you this morning. You were moving so fast. Can t seem to loosen my grip On the past. And I miss you so much. There s no one in sight.
Confined to sex, we pressed against The limits of the sea: I saw there were no oceans left For scavengers like me.
Took my diamond to the pawnshop But that don t make it junk.
I tried to love you my way, But I couldn t make it hold. So I closed the Book of Longing And I do what I am told.
I know that I m forgiven, But I don t know how I know I don t trust my inner feelings Inner feelings come and go.
Here is your cart, And your cardboard and piss; And here is your love For all of this.
Upheld by the simplicities of pleasure, They gain the light, they formlessly entwine; And radiant beyond your widest measure They fall among the voices and the wine.
Even though she sleeps upon your satin; Even though she wakes you with a kiss. Do not say the moment was imagined; Do not stoop to strategies like this.
A sip of wine, a cigarette, And then it s time to go. I tidied up the kitchenette; I tuned the old banjo. I m wanted at the traffic-jam. They re saving me a seat.
Yeah I missed you since the place got wrecked By the winds of change and the weeds of sex looks like freedom but it feels like death it s something in between, I guess it s CLOSING TIME
The space in which we interact is often more consciously acknowledged than the time we pass through

Stoning is an ancient form of capital punishment. There are historical reports of stoning from Ancient Greece Herodotus reports the case of Lycidas in his Histories, Book IX. Stoning is also mentioned in Ancient Greek mythology Oedipus asks to be stoned to death when he learns that he killed his father.
Stoning, or lapidation, is a form of capital punishment whereby a group throws stones at a person until the person dies. No individual among the group can be identified as the one who kills the subject, yet everyone involved plainly bears some degree of moral culpability. This is in contrast to the case of a judicial executioner.
Slower than other forms of execution, stoning is a form of execution by torture.
Stoning is arguably the world s oldest form of execution. It is as old as written literature, and the most common death penalty described in the Bible (prompting Jesus famous anti-death penalty statement in John 8.7: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone ). Although it has never been a legal form of execution in the United States, it is practiced elsewhere in the world, primarily in the Middle East and sub-saharan Africa.
Stoning is typically a punishment for adultery, although it can also be use for cases of incest and other sexual or moral crimes. Typically, a stoning victim is first wrapped in cloth and buried up to the waist for men, or up to the chest for females. Then the crowd is to throw stones at the victim
The prisoner is buried either up to his waist (if male) or up to her shoulders (if female) and then pelted with stones by a crowd of volunteers until obviously battered to death. Under the terms of most fundamentalist courts, the stones must be small enough that death cannot reasonably be expected to result from only one or two blows, but large enough to cause physical harm. The average execution by stoning is extremely painful, lasting at least 10 to 20 minutes.
