As a child protection professional you can contribute to understanding and reducing social and familial challenges like drug abuse, violence, poverty, mental illness and parental neglect.the Bachelor of Child Protection gives students the knowledge to tackle these challenges. The programme enables students to develop their knowledge of the welfare state, local government services and the challenges and nuances presented by a multicultural society. Students develop the ability to critically reflect on their own values and attitudes. Study plan PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION The bachelor degree consists of various courses components that are crucial to provide students qualifications to lead people into work. Among other things, study program will provide the student knowledge and skills in modern management theory, organizational psychology, labor law, marketing, finance and accounting, work environment / HSE and the labor market. LEARNING OUTCOMES The study aims to give students a basic understanding of human resource management in modern public and private enterprises. Knowledge When completing the programme, students will: Have knowledge of key themes, theories, concepts, problems and working in HR management. Key areas of knowledge are leadership and organizational psychology, labor law, marketing and strategy, finance and management and working environment / HSE. Skills When completing the programme students will: Be able to explain and apply theory - and terminology used in the disciplines. Could utilize this knowledge in practical business related work. General competence When completing the programme students will; Gain expertise that enables he or she to meet the knowledge requirements within the personnel management in the public and private sectors. Qualify for admission to graduate programs within the field. FURTHER EDUCATION Graduates qualify for admission to the following master level programmes: The Master of Social Work, The Master of Rehabilitation, The Master of Human Resource Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences, at University of Nordland as well as relevant master degree programmes at other universities. STUDY ABROAD The program facilitates exchanges in the 5th semester (fall semester) in 3rd year of study. UiN has several current partner institutions that can offer compatible topics and which could be incorporated in the 5th semester curriculum. EXAMINATION REGULATIONS, ASSESSMENT AND GRADING The Norwegian system for grading and assessment using the letter grades A - F, in which A denotes the best/highest grade and F denotes "not passed". Grades can also be awarded as "passed", "not passed", "approved" and "not approved". Subject descriptions (8) Study foundation semester - Individual, Society and Science EX150S The goal for this semester course is twofold: 1. The course enables students to be better able to study and get involved in studies. It also lays the foundation for the expertise and skills students should have as students and in relation to their future work. It emphasizes in particular: Communication and reflection skills Writing and presentation skills 2. The course provides a basic introduction to philosophy and the history of science, and to central research themes and teaching at the faculty. Currently, this includes the following topics: Democracy, gender equality and participation Norwegian Society and the World Ethics in Practice and Science Globalization, Trade, Environment and Risk The Media's role and power Social Analysis and Political Systems Science s role and power Welfare Society and Welfare State Development No costs except semester registration fee and course literature. TEACHING ACTIVITIES AND METHODS Teaching methoda and learning activities consist of a mixture of lectures, field trips, student activity, seminars and group work. Selected parts of the curriculum will be discussed in lectures and students are responsible for reviewing the whole curriculum. Students are expected to influence the content of discussions and workshops by contributing with their own suggestions and comments. Honours in Occupational Health and Safety HM204H The course provides a broad introduction to a variety of topics that are central in the field of Occupational Health and Safety and the Norwegian Health, Environment and Safety legislation. The course focuses on both health promotion and the prevention of illness, injuries, accidents and social problems. Sick leave and inclusive working conditions are also central themes. Another part of this course is related to the purchase or sale of products and services which may represent a health risk, and waste management. Introduction to qualitative and quantitative methods in social sciences ME118S The course provides an introduction to social science methods, both quantitative and qualitative. This course presents and discusses the key concepts in social science methods, methods its logical structure and how the qualitative data (interviews and observations) and quantitative data (statistics) are produced. MODE OF DELIVERY The education will be given as a combination of Llectures, and seminars and computer lab training. Precense at the computer lab training is mandatory. The lectures give an introduction to key topics, while in the seminars the students gain experience and training in research design. At the computer lab training the students will be introduced to basic statistical analysis performed in SPSS. The lab training will in total be approximately 6-8 hours. We will focus on marketing as a management process where the company is seeking to reconcile the internal strengths and weaknesses with opportunities and threats in the environment.
