1 Patentkrav 5 1. Chondroitin-sulfat med en molekylvekt i området fra 1000 til 5000 dalton med anti-inflammatorisk og anti-artrittisk biologisk aktivitet, karakterisert ved en prosentandel av disakkarid 6-monosulfat lik eller større enn 65%, en prosentandel av disakkarid 4-monosulfat < 1%, en prosentandel av disakkarid 2,6-disulfat lavere enn eller lik 20%, en prosentandel av disakkarid 4,6-disulfat < 5%, en prosentandel av disakkarid 2,4-disulfat < 1%, en prosentandel av ikke-sulfatert disakkarid < 15%, og en ladningstetthetsverdi i området fra 1 til 1,25. 10 2. Chondroitin-sulfat ifølge krav 1, oppnådd ved kjemisk sulfatering og etterfølgende syre- eller radikal-depolymerisering av det kapsulære polysakkarid K4 av E. coli etter fjerning av fruktose-residuene ved hjelp av hydrolyse. 3. Chondroitin-sulfat ifølge krav 1, oppnådd ved kjemisk sulfatering av den lavmolekylvekts naturlige fraksjon av det kapsulære polysakkarid K4 av E. coli utført etter fjerning av fruktose-residuene ved hjelp av hydrolyse. 15 4. Chondroitin-sulfat ifølge krav 1, oppnådd ved kjemisk sulfatering og etterfølgende syre- eller radikal-depolymerisering av det kapsulære polysakkarid opprinnelig fritt for fruktose-residuer (K4-d) dannet av E. coli stamme DSM23644. 20 5. Chondroitin-sulfat ifølge krav 1, oppnådd ved kjemisk sulfatering av lavmolekylvekts-fraksjonen av kapsulært polysakkarid opprinnelig fritt for fruktoseresiduer (K4-d) dannet av E. coli stamme DSM23644. 6. Chondroitin-sulfat ifølge krav 1 5 for anvendelse ved forebygging og behandling av akutte eller inflammatoriske tilstander og/eller for forebygging av muskuloskeletal helse i mennesker og dyr. 25 7. Chondroin-sulfat for anvendelse ifølge krav 6, hvor den inflammatoriske tilstanden er osteoartritt. 8. Sammensetning omfattende chondoitin-sulfatet ifølge krav 1 5 som aktiv bestanddel, i kombinasjon med farmasøytisk og nutrasøytisk akseptable eksipienter samt eventuelt med andre aktive ingredienser.

Sammensetning ifølge krav 8, hvor de andre aktive ingredienser er valgt fra glukosamin-hydroklorid, glukosamin-sulfat, N-acetyl-glukosamin, hyaluronsyre, aminosyrer, kollagen, hydrolysert kollagen, polyumettede fettsyrer, keratin, dermatin, metyl-sulfonylmetan (MSM), folater, reduserte folater, vitaminer, gruppe B vitaminer, S-adenosylmetionin (SAMe), askorbinsyre eller mangan-askorbat. 10. Sammensetning ifølge krav 8 eller 9 i form av kapsler, myke gelkapsler, tabletter, drikker i flytende form eller drikker i pulverform som skal oppløses.
