Sist endret: 04-11-2014 International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code The international Convention for the safety og Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS), tar for seg forskjellige aspekter ved maritim sikkerhet og inneholder i kapittel VII(7) krav om forhold som faller under frakt av farlige stoffer, i pakket eller solid form, i bulk. Ved frakt av solid bulk cargoes skal man handle i henhold til relevante bestemmelser i kapittel VII, som er forsterket og videre utdypet i form av IMSBC-koden. Each ship carrying dangerous goods in solid form in bulk shall have a special list or manifest setting forth the dengerous goods onboard and the location thereof. A detailed stowage plan, which identifies by class and sets out the location og all dangerous goods on board, may be used in place of such a special list or manifest. A copy of one of these documents shall be made available before departure to the person or organization designated by the port State authority. The master shall be able to calculate the stability for the anticipated worst condition during the voyage, as well as that on departure, and demonstrate that the stability is adequate. As far as practicable, high-density cargoes shall be loaded in the lower hold cargo spaces. Section 3 Safety of personnel and ship Unless expressly provided otherwise, when cargoes which may emit toxic gases are carried, the cargo spaces shall be provided with mechanical or natural ventilation; and, when cargoes which may emit flammable gases are carried, the cargo spaces shall be provided with mechanical ventilation. If maintaining ventilation would endanger the ship or the cargo, it may be interrupted unless this would produce a risk of explosion. Loading is carried out using trimming equipment approved by the competent authority. Non-Cohesive bulk cargoes having an angle of repose greater than 35 degrees These cargoes shall be trimmed according to the following criteria: 1.
