THEMES FOR THE 5th HUMAN RIGHTS HUMAN WRONGS DOCumentary FILM FESTIVAL human rights human wrongs themes 6 Outcasts De utstøtte Millions of people in the world are considered outcasts only because we see them as different than ourselves. Dalits (untouchables), Roma people, sexual minorities and unwanted refugees are only some of these. Why do we maintain mechanisms and structures that reproduce mentalities which enable us to dehumanize others, making them outcasts? Payback / Economic injustice Økonomisk urettferdighet What is the relation between debt and human rights? Who is in debt to whom in the globalized economy? We want to focus on the Human Rights Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and look at two subtopics: climate and debt. Begge temaer skaper store debatter i internasjonale forhandlingsprosesser. Protest Movements Protestbevegelser The Arab Spring gave a new legitimacy to protest movements and a belief that they could actually create political change. We look at protests that more often than not take place outside the media spotlight. What characterizes protest movements in Angola, Tibet, Belarus and Russia?

festival GUESTS GJESTER Freedom of Expression Ytringsfrihet In China people are protesting against the censorship and looking for new ways to share information. Russia is one of the most dangerous countries for journalists and human rights activists to work in, especially in the Northern Caucasus region, but still people are risking their lives to tell the truth.
