The Blue Devils have won two straight games after beating Maryland at home, 17-13, last weekend. The Cavaliers are coming off a 34-9 loss to at home a week ago. Last Time Out Duke s defense and punt coverage unit came up with two takeaways in the fi nal fi ve minutes to help the Blue Devils earn a win over Maryland. Vincent Rey intercepted a pass at the 4:09 mark and Brandon King recovered a fumble with 1:42 remaining to seal the win. Thaddeus Lewis completed 30-of-43 pass attempts for 371 yards and two touchdowns. Duke had two receivers go over 100 yards. Donovan Varner caught eight passes for 120 yards and one touchdown and Conner Vernon had fi ve grabs for 102 yards. Duke leads the league with passing yards per game and is averaging 74.4 yards per contest on the ground. The average is 93.2 yards per game more than what the Blue Devils averaged a year ago when they ranked 10th in the conference in total offense. ACC Total Offense 1. Florida State Duke N.C. Central, Duke put together a fi ve-play drive, covering 59 yards that resulted in a touchdown on a 14-yard run by redshirt freshman Patrick Kurunwune. Blue Devils Offense In A Groove Over the last fi ve games, Duke is averaging yards of total offense per game, including passing yards per contest. Over the last four games, the Blue Devils have averaged 35.3 points per game and own a third down conversion percentage of.507. In the fi rst three outings, Duke converted just 21.4 percent of its third downs and averaged 17.0 points per game. 500 Yards Of Offense At N.C. State Duke tallied 502 yards of total offense in its last game against N.C. State with 459 passing yards and 43 rushing yards. The 502 yards were the most by a Blue Devil team since 2007 when Duke had 506 yards in a loss at Navy. That game was also the last time Duke recorded over 400 passing yards as the Blue Devils had 429 against the Midshipmen. Against the Wolfpack, Duke converted 13-of-19 (.684) third downs. Prior to the game, N.C. State led the conference in total defense, allowing only yards per game. The 459 yards were over half (862) what the Wolfpack allowed in its fi rst fi ve games combined.

4 Game 8 - Duke vs. - Oct. 31, Blue Devils Have Success Against Tech The Duke offense tallied 397 yards of total offense, including 359 passing yards against Tech. Entering the game, the Hokies defense was allowing total yards and just passing yards per game. Tech also had allowed just one passing touchdown and an ACC-low pass effi ciency of 84.9 in its fi rst four games. Duke s Thaddeus Lewis threw two TD passes and recorded a quarterback rating of against the Hokies. Blue Devils Rack Up Yards Duke tallied 487 yards of total offense against N.C. Central. The Blue Devils rushed for a season-high 233 yards while passing for 254 in the game. It is the fi rst time since Oct. 27, 2001, against Vanderbilt that Duke has rushed and passed for over 200 yards in a game. The 233 rushing yards were also the most since the Blue Devils gained 218 yards on the ground to open up the season against James Madison. Back For Final Season Lewis is now in his fourth season as Duke s starting quarterback and has tallied 8,707 passing yards and 61 passing touchdowns in 42 career games. Last week the Blue Devils allowed just 67 yards on 31 carries (2.2 avg.) to a Maryland team that averaged yards per game coming in. Duke limited N.C. Central to 70 rushing yards on 28 attempts. The Eagles averaged just 2.5 yards per carry with 11 carries going for either no gain or negative yardage. State The Blue Devils only allowed one touchdown in the second half at N.C. State on a kickoff return while forcing four turnovers to lead to a win. They also posted four takeaways at Army. It marks the seventh time in 18 games under Cutcliffe that Duke has caused three or more turnovers with four or more in four contests. Stingy Defense Duke held N.C. Central to less than 200 yards of total offense and allowed just one offensive touchdown. The Eagles managed just 70 rushing yards and 111 passing yards for a total of 181 yards on the day.
