Kickoff is scheduled for 12 noon (ET) at Wallace Wade Stadium. The game will be televised on Raycom Sports with Tim Brant calling the play-by-play, Rick Doc Walker providing the color commentary and Mike Hogewood on the sideline. The Blue Devils are coming off a loss at No. 20 Miami last weekend while the Demon Deacons had a bye week and lost to Florida State, 41-28, in their last game. Last Time Out Duke led heading into the fourth quarter, but Miami scored 21 unanswered points to come away with a win at Land Shark Stadium. Thaddeus Lewis broke Duke s career record for passing yards with his 303-yard performance. His top target was Donovan Varner who caught eight passes for 165 yards and one touchdown. Miami was led by Jacory Harris, who threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns, and Leonard Hankerson, who fi nished with eight receptions for 143 yards and one touchdown. Blue Devil ISP Sports Network A state-wide radio audience follows all the action of Duke football on The Blue Devil ISP Sports Network. The network provides in-depth pregame coverage, live play-by-play of all the action, and the post-game press conferences straight from the locker room to stations via satellite each game. The one-hour tailgate show is hosted by John Roth. Two-time North Carolina Broadcaster of the Year Bob Harris, the voice of the Blue Devils for the past 33 seasons, calls all the action for Duke fans each game. He was inducted into the Stanly County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in Analyst Wes Chesson joins Harris in the booth each game and is in his 30th season providing color commentary for Duke games. Chesson, an All-ACC receiver at Duke from , still holds fi ve school receiving records, hauling in 164 catches for 2,399 yards during his playing days. This season Duke has posted several accomplishments in the win column both overall and in the ACC. Blue Devils Holding Opponents Under 20 Points This season Duke has limited five opponents to under 20 points, including three straight in ACC play earlier this season. The last time the Blue Devils accomplished the feat was 1994 when Duke opened the conference slate with wins over Maryland (49-16), Georgia Tech (27-12) and Clemson (19-13). The 1994 squad held its fi rst six opponents under 20 points with non-conference victories over East Carolina (13-10), Army (43-7) and Navy (47-14) interspersed with the three league wins. L, 6-19 Duke Football Game Notes 1 Senior quarterback Thaddeus Lewis will move into a tie for fourth on the ACC career passing touchdowns chart with one more touchdown passes. Lewis currently ranks fi fth with 64 career scoring tosses. 2nd Sophomore wide receiver Donovan Varner ranks second in the ACC for both receptions per game (4.91) and receiving yards per game (79.4). 3 True freshman Conner Vernon is three catches shy of 50 for the year, which would put him in third place for most receptions by a freshman in ACC history. Vernon also ranks fi fth all-time in league history with 653 receiving yards, 42 shy of climbing into third place. 13 Senior linebacker Vincent Rey is 13 tackles away from his third straight 100-tackle season. He is looking to become just the seventh player in school history with 100 or more tackles in three or more seasons. 15 Duke will honor 15 players this Saturday on senior day. 15 Junior walk-on Will Snyderwine has made 15 fi eld goals this season to rank tied for third in school history for a single season. He is 15-of-18 (.833) on the year, which is currently the highest percentage for one season by a Duke kicker. 20 The Blue Devils have held fi ve opponents under 20 points this season, marking the fi rst time since The Blue Devils have tallied 45 plays of 20 or more yards on the season with fi ve plays of over 50 yards. Lewis has thrown for a school record yards in his career Duke leads the ACC and ranks 10th nationally in passing offense, averaging yards per game. The Blue Devils have thrown for over 300 yards in six games this season. 300 Lewis has passes for over 300 yards in six of the 11 games this year. His six 300-yard games are the second most in a single season at Duke while his 10 career 300-yard games ties a school record. 700 With 47 receiving yards Kelly will join Varner with 700 receiving yards on the year, making the duo just the fourth in school history with over 700 yards each. 3,000 Lewis is 67 passing yards away from becoming the fourth quarterback in school history to throw for 3,000 yards in one season. Ben Bennett accomplished the feat in 1982 and 1983 while Anthony Dilweg has the single season record with 3,824 yards in Duke Ranks Fifth In Turnover Margin The Blue Devils have a +3 turnover margin this season, which ranks fi fth in the ACC. Duke has caused 18 turnovers while committing only 15. The 15 giveaways are tied for the second fewest in the league behind Virginia Tech (13). 4 Game 12 - Duke vs. - Nov. 28, Offensive Notes Pass Offense Ranks 10th Nationally Duke s passing offense leads the ACC and ranks 10th nationally this season, averaging yards per game. The Blue Devil quarterbacks have thrown for 3,273 yards and 21 touchdowns. In conference-only games, Duke is averaging passing yards per game to lead the league. ACC Passing Offense 1. State Duke tallied 502 yards of total offense against N.C. State with 459 passing yards and 43 rushing yards. The 502 yards were the most by a Blue Devil team since 2007 when Duke had 506 yards in a loss at Navy. That game was also the last time Duke recorded over 400 passing yards as the Blue Devils had 429 against the Midshipmen. Against the Wolfpack, Duke converted 13-of-19 (.684) third downs. Prior to the game, N.C. State led the conference in total defense, allowing only yards per game. The 459 yards were over half (862) what the Wolfpack had allowed in its fi rst fi ve games combined. Blue Devils Have Success Against Virginia Tech The Duke offense tallied 397 yards of total offense, including 359 passing yards against Virginia Tech. Entering the game, the Hokies defense was allowing total yards and just passing yards per game. Virginia Tech also had allowed just one passing touchdown and an ACC-low pass effi ciency of 84.9 in its fi rst four games. Duke s Thaddeus Lewis threw two TD passes and recorded a quarterback rating of against the Hokies. Duke Football Game Notes 200 Yards Rushing and Passing Duke tallied 487 yards of total offense against N.C. Central. The Blue Devils rushed for a season-high 233 yards while passing for 254 in the game. It is the fi rst time since Oct. 27, 2001, against Vanderbilt that Duke has rushed and passed for over 200 yards in a game. The 233 rushing yards were also the most since the Blue Devils gained 218 yards on the ground to open up the 2008 season against James Madison. Back For Final Season Lewis is now in his fourth season as Duke s starting quarterback and has tallied 9,678 passing yards and 64 passing touchdowns in 46 career games. With his fi rst collegiate pass attempt, the Scottsdale, Ariz., native tossed a 17-yard touchdown strike to Brett Huffman to give the Blue Devils their fi rst lead of the game. After an Army fi eld goal made the score 14-13, Renfree directed a nine-play, 78- yard drive that resulted in a 31-yard touchdown pass to Donovan Varner on the fi rst snap of the fourth quarter. QBs Spread The Ball Around Through 11 games, Duke has had 14 different players catch at least one pass with four recording 30 or more receptions and eight posting 15 or more receptions. The receiving corps has seven players who have combined for 197 receptions and 13 touchdowns. The Blue Devils running backs corps has four players who have combined for 53 catches and two touchdowns. The tight end group has three players combine for 30 grabs and six scores. A season-high 12 different players caught a pass at Kansas and against Georgia Tech while nine different players had a catch against Virginia Tech.
