Strikk stykket 5 cm bredt. MARI CARDIGAN Cast on 8 ( 0 )8 sts with No.6mm/USA needle andwork 2 rounds in stockinet stitch. On the third round work in k2 p2 on the right side, end with 2 knit (as seen from right side of work). See diagram. Continue right up until the work measures ( ) 27 cm. Important: Flatten out the various pieces when measuring. The work shrinks a bit during knitting due to the structure, but will straighten out upon use. Sleeves, back piece and body will turn out too long if this is not taken into account. Decrease for the armhole: Work ( ) sts, decrease 8 sts, work 60 ( 66 ) 70, decrease 8 and work ( ). Front piece: Decrease on the sleeve side every other round 3,2,1, until there are ( ) sts remaining. Continue right up until the work measures 44 ( 46 ) 48 cm. Decrease 4 ( 5 ) 5 sts on the neck side, until there are ( ) sts remaining for shoulder stitches. Work 4 ( 4 ) 6 cm and either cast off or place the stitches onto a stitch holder for knitting the seams together. Work the other front piece in the same manner, but mirrored. Back: Decrease 3,2,1 on each side of the back to 48 ( 54 ) 58 sts. Continue right up until the work measures 48 cm then decrease the middle sts (applies for all sizes), ( ) sts on each shoulder. Work 1 round. On the next round decrease 2 sts towards the neck to ( ) sts. Cast off and sew or knit the shoulders together. Sleeves: Cast on 33 sts and work 1 round in stockinet stitch, 32 knit and 1 purl. The purled stitch should be on the underside of the sleeve and you will later increase 1 stitch on each side of this stitch. Now work pattern according to diagram and increase also according to diagram until there are 50 ( 52 ) 56 sts (approx 44 ( 45 ) 46 cm) on the needle. Decrease 8 sts under each arm, then decrease 3,2,1 on each side to 30 ( 32 ) 36 sts. Continue upwards to ( ) cm. Decrease 6 ( 6 ) 7 sts on each side of the sleeve top 2 times. Cast off the last 6 ( 8 ) 8 sts. Fringe edge around the sleeve: Beginning on the right side, work 1 round single crochet, work from the wrong side in the single crochet sts in the half of the stitch that is closest to you. A crochet stitch resembles a flat heart and you will work this round in half heart * slip sts, 1 single crochet in next stitch* repeat for rest of round. Turn and work from the right side; * slip sts, 1 single crochet in the next stitch. Continue for rest of round. Middle piece: Pick up approx 55 sts from the right side of the work with a No.6mm crochet hook (pick up a new stitch in approx every other stitch). Knit back. Continue working in k1 p1 for rest of round, turn and work knit over purl and purl over knit (moss stitch). Work the piece 5 cm wide. Cast off loosely and knit the other piece identically. Crocheted border in contrast color: A decorative edge will be crocheted between the cardigan itself and the mid-piece. Begin on the right side of the work, at the top just where the neck decrease begins. Start with 1 single crochet and work *3 slip sts, insert the hook in the next stitch taking both threads with the hook and work 1 single crochet around the two threads* repeat from ** down to the casting-on edge, continue working single crochet around the entire edge until you arrive at the next mid-piece, now turn and work back. From the wrong side begin with 1 single crochet in the half of the stitch closest to you (a crochet stitch resembles a flat heart and you will crochet this round in half heart ). Work * slip sts and 1 single crochet in the next half heart * and continue for rest of round, turn and crochet in the other half but now work slip sts between each single crochet. Crochet rest of round and continue upwards along the front piece in the same manner as the first, continue around the neck likewise. Finishing: Sleeves: Using thread of the same color as the sleeve, sew even stitches around the top of the sleeve for gathering the top and creating a puff sleeve. Use a pair of circular needles as basting thread and baste the sleeve onto the body. In this way you are able to distribute the sleeve/armhole so that it fits exactly. Use a hooked rug needle and sew the sleeve on with backstitches. Buttonhole edge: Using a thinner No.4 or 5mm crochet hook, begin uppermost on the right hand side of the cardigan right next to the gathering edge and work single crochet along the top side and two single crochet in the corner (making sure not to draw tight), continue with 3 slip sts, skip 2 sts and work 1 new in the third, work a total of 6 single crochet before making a new buttonhole of 3 slip sts. The number of stitches between buttonholes will vary based on size and how many open stitches there are along the edge, but you can figure this out by counting. Crochet a single crochet edge around the second piece, too, but without buttonholes. Sew on buttons right at the edge, preferably in the same color as the ruched edge around the body.
