1 Nygårdsviken, Bergen USER INSTRUCTIONS VLBS LOAD RING Instructions - Part 1 Safety instructions This safety instruction / declaration of the manufacturer has to be kept on file for the whole lifetime of the product. EC-Declaration of the manufacturer According to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, annex II B and amendments. We hereby declare that the design and construction of the equipment detailed within this document, adheres to the appropriate level of health and safety of the corresponding EC regulation. Any un-authorized modification of the equipment and/or any incorrect usage of the equipment not adhered to within these user instructions waivers this declaration invalid. The equipment must be regularly tested and inspected as per BGR 500. Failure to carry out the recommended maintenance and testing of the equipment waivers this declaration invalid. W. 2 Instructions - Part 2 1. Reference should be made to relevant standards and other statutory regulations. Inspections should be carried out by competent persons only. 2. Before installing and every use, visually inspect RUD lifting points, with particular attention to any evidence of corrosion, wear and weld cracks and deformations. Please ensure compatibility of bolt thread and tapped hole. 3. The material construction to which the lifting point will be attached, should be of adequate strength to withstand forces during lifting without deformation. The contact areas must be free from inpurities, oil, colour, etc. Preheat the structure according to AS 1554 if required. The material of the forged welding block is S355J2+N, St52-3, B.S D or AISI 1019 ( AS3678 GR350). When lifting light metals, nonferrous heavy metals and gray cast iron, the thread has to be chosen in such a way that the working load limit of the thread corresponds to the requirements of the respective base material. The min quality of the hexagon bolt has to be 10.9 accord. EN (DIN 931) with the nominal diameter. For replacement, the bolt can be easily hammered out (M8 - M30). The type VLBG 7t M36 is only delivered with a special bolt, therefore it is not possible to use a EN/DIN-bolt. 4. The lifting points must be positioned on the load in such a way that movement is avoided during lifting. a) For single leg lifts, the lifting point should be vertically above the center of gravity of the load. b) For two leg lifts, the lifting points must be equidistant to/or above the center of gravity of the load. c) For three and four leg lifts, the lifting points should be arranged symmetrically around the center of gravity in the same plane if possible. 5. Load Symmetry: The working load limit of individual RUD lifting points are calculated using the following formula and are based on symmetrical loading: NOTE: For WLL Calculations ß angle is taken from the vertical plane. Included angle is the angle between the sling legs. 6. Safety: When lifting points are used in a multileg assembly, care should be taken to calculate the WLL (Working Load Limit) due to the deration caused by forces acting in multiple directions. The reduction in WLL (Working Load Limit) for multileg assemblies should be checked with relevant Standards e.g. AS Chain Slings-Gr t (8) 2/10

3 The lifting points should be mounted in such a way that they may easily be accessed for inspection and assembly/disassembly of the sling. 7. All fittings connected to the VLBG should be free moving. When connecting and disconnecting the lifting means (wire ropes, chain slings, round slings) pinches and impacts should be avoided. Damage to lifting components caused by sharp corners should also be avoided. 8. The complete design can be annealed stress-free several times up to <600ºC (1100ºF) without reduction of WLL 9. At outdoor sites or in case of special danger of corrosion, the welds should only be designed as continuous, fillet welds. The HV weld at the VLBS guarantees a connection via the whole cross section of the material. This corresponds to a closed weld showing no signs of corrosion 10. The distance lugs assist in achieving the correct root weld (approx.. 3 mm = 01 inch). They should not be removed 11. UD-Lifting points must not be used under chemical influences such as acids, alkaline solutions and vapors e.g. in pickling baths or hot dip galvanizing plants. If this cannot be avoided, please contact the manufacturer indicating the concentration, period of penetration and temperature of use. 12. If the lifting points are used exclusively for lashing, the value of the working load can be doubled. LC (lashing capacity) = 2 x WLL. 13.After Welding, an annual inspection or sooner if conditions dictate should be undertaken by a competent person examining the continued suitability. Also inspect after damage and special occurrences. Inspection criteria regarding paragraphs 2 and 12: The lifting point should be complete. The working load limit and manufacturers stamp should be clearly visible. Deformation of the component parts such as body, load ring and bolt. Mechanical damage, such as notches, particularly in high stress areas. Wear should be no more than 10% of cross sectional diameter. Evidence of corrosion. Evidence of cracks. Cracks or damages to the welding. Any non-adherence to this advice may result in damages of persons and/ or materals! 3/10

Welding sequence The welding should only be carried out by an authorized welder, acc to AS1554 or En287 or relevant AWS Standards 4/10

5 1. Prepare the surface and ensure all contact areas are clean. Check preparation and welding consumables for conformance 2. Carefully clean the root run before carrying out subsequent runs. 3. Apply fillet weld (see table 3 above). The welding process must not be interrupted for such a time that the welding blocks lose the welding temperature. Attention: Do not weld at the pink powder coated, heat treated load ring. 5/10

Før installering og hver bruk, visuelt inspisere RUD løftepunkter, med særlig vekt på tegn på korrosjon, slitasje og sveisesprekker og deformasjoner. Vennligst sikre kompatibilitet av bolt gjengene og gjengehull 3. Materialet som løftepunktet skal festes, bør være av tilstrekkelig styrke til å motstå kreftene under løfting uten deformasjon. Kontaktflatene må vare fri fra urenheter, olje, farge osv. Forvarm struktur ih.t AS 1554 hvis nødvendig: Materialet i det smidde sveiseblokken er S355J2+N, St52-3, B.S. 4360, 50 D eller AISI 1019( AS3678 GR350) 4. Løftepunktene må posisjoneres på last på en slik måte at bevegelse unngås under løfting. a) For 1-partsløft, bør løftepunktet være vertikalt over tyngdepunktet av lasten. b) For 2-partsløft, må løftepunktene være like langt til / eller over tyngdepunktet av lasten c) For 3- og 4-partsløft må løftepunktene være anordnet symmetrisk rundt sentrum av tyngdekraften i det samme plan hvis mulig. 5. Lastesymmetri: The maksimale arbeidslasten (WLL) av individuelle RUD løftepunkter beregnes ved hjelp av følgende formel og er basert på symmetrisk lasting: NOTE: For WLL beregninger ß vinkel er tatt fra vertikalplanet. Inkludert vinkel er vinkelen mellom sling partene G er lasten (kg) n er antall lastbærende parter 6. Sikkerhet: Når løftepunktene skal brukes i en flerparts-sammenstilling, bør man sørge for å beregne WLL (Working Load Limit) på grunn av deration forårsaket av krefter som virker i flere retninger. Reduksjonen i WLL (Working Load Limit) for flerparts-sammenstillinger bør sjekkes med relevant Standards f.eks. AS kjætting-gr t (8) Løftepunktene skal monteres på en slik måte at de er tilgjengelig for inspeksjon og montering / demontering av slingen 7. Alle koblinger knyttet til VLBS bør være i fri bevegelse. Ved tilkobling og frakobling løfteinnretninger (ståltau, kjetting, rundslings) klemming og støt bør unngås. Skade på løftekomponenter forårsaket av skarpe hjørner bør også unngås. 7/10

8 8. Hele design kan bli glødet stress-fri flere ganger opp til <600 C (1100 F) uten reduksjon av WLL 9. På utendørs områder og i tilfelle av spesiell fare for korrosjon, bør kontinuerlig kilsveis brukes. V-fugen på VLBS garanterer en tilkobling via hele tversnittet av materialet. Dette tilsvarer en lukket sveis. 10. Distansflensene bistår i å oppnå korrekt a-mål. De må ikke fjernes For å unngå utilsiktet demontering gjennom sjokkbelastning, rotasjon eller vibrasjon bør gjengelåsevæske som Loctite (avhengig av bruksområde, se produsentens instruksjoner) brukes for å sikre bolten. 11. Løftepunkter fra RUD må ikke brukes under kjemisk påvirkning som syrer, alkaliske løsninger og damp f.eks. i beisbad eller Varmforsinkingsanlegning. Hvis dette ikke kan unngås, må du kontakte produsenten å indikere konsentrasjonen, perioden av penetrasjon og temperaturen brukt. 12. Hvis løftepunktene brukes utelukkende til surring, kan verdien av arbeidsbelastningen bli doblet. LC (surring kapasitet) = 2 x WLL. 13. Etter sveising, bør en årlig inspeksjon (eller raskere hvis forholdene tilsier) foretas av en kompetent person før å undersøke fortsatt egnethet. Inspiser også etter skade og spesielle hendelser. Inspeksjonkriterier for punktene 2 og 14: Løftepunktet skal være fullstendig. Arbeidsbelastningsbegrensningen og produsentens stempel skal være godt synlig. Deformasjon av komponentdelene som en kropp, lastring og bolt. Mekanisk skade, som hakk, spesielt i områder med stor belastning. Slitasje bør ikke være mer enn 10% av tverrsnitt diameter. Bevis på korrosjon. Bevis på sprekker. Sprekker eller annen skade på sveising Enhver ikke-etterlevelse av disse råden kan føre til skader på personer og / eller materiell 8/10

10 Sveisesekvens Sveising bør kun utføres av en autorisert sveiser, Ih.t til AS1554 eller En287 eller relevant AWS Standarder 1. Forbered overflaten og kontrollere at alle berørte områder er rene. Sjekk forberedelse- og tilsettmaterialer for konformitet 2. Rengjør forsiktig roten kjøre før du utfører etterfølgende kjøringer. 3. Påfør kilsveis (se tabell 3 ovenfor). Sveiseprosessen må ikke avbrytes for en slik tid at sveise blokker miste sveisetemperatur. NB: Ikke sveis på den rosa pulverlakkerte, varmebehandlete lasteringen. 10/10
