Christ humbled himself, by being born in a barn, by living as a man, and by dying on a cross with the words "King of the Jews" written above his head for all to see. As Christ transformed himself through his death and resurrection, and changed death from something to be feared to the beginning of new life, he transformed the cross from an object of fear to a symbol of hope, and from a sign of death to the greatest symbol of love, and everlasting life. 5 Faith Formation & More! MERCY CHAPEL PARENT BIBLE STUDY Is your child in the Edge Program, (68th grade) on alternating Wednesday evenings? If so, we have a deal for you! Beginning September 25th at 6:45, there will be a parentled Bible study in the "crying room" at Christ the King Church. There is no cost to this program. Come and meet other parents and "break open" the Word of God! No experience needed, just a willingness to be drawn into the immense love of Jesus and the riches of the faith! FIRST SATURDAY MASS INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS On the 1st Saturday of 5 consecutive months: 1. Make a good confession (This can be made within 8 days before or after the first Saturday.) 2. Receive Holy Communion (Regarding the difficulty that some could meet in fulfilling this requirement on Saturday, Our Lord told Sr. Lucy, "The practice of this devotion will be equally acceptable on the Sunday following the first Saturday when my priests, for a just cause, allow the faithful"). 3. Pray 5 decades of the Holy Rosary. 4. Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Holy Rosary. This is to be done separately from the Rosary, using one, several of all of the mysteries. 5. The above 4 requirements must all be done with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Thus our purpose is to console and compassionate the Immaculate Heart for the offenses she receives by those who ungratefully reject her maternal intervention and despise her prerogatives. THE PROMISES 1. The Virgin Mary's assistance at the hour of death with graces necessary for salvation. 2. Establishing devotion to the Immaculate Heart will result in the salvation of souls and peace. The next First Saturday Mass at Christ the King will be on Saturday, October 5th at 7:30am.
