2 $2M Gift Establishes the Sanghvi Endowed Chair in Cardiac Imaging at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine With a $2 million gift from Vijay Sanghvi, MD, the Drs. Vijay and Khushman Sanghvi Endowed Chair in Cardiac Imaging (the Sanghvi Chair) has been created to support a faculty member who is dedicated to the advanced cardiac imaging program at the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. He is the first American of Asian Indian origin to endow a chair position at the University of Cincinnati. Thomas Boat, MD, Christian R. Holmes Professor, dean of the UC College of Medicine and UC vice president for health affairs, says the college, the division of cardiovascular health and disease in the department of internal medicine and UC Medical Center are honored by Sanghvi s gift and pleased to have an endowed chair in his name at the college. "Dr. Sanghvi is a distinguished cardiologist not only at UC but also in the community and beyond, he says. "We are so proud that he is part of our faculty. His generous gift will ensure that the cardiac imaging program at UC will continue to grow and be successful in years to come. Dr. Vijay Sanghvi made a donation of $ to UC for Dr. Khushman Sanghvi memorial lecture in Mind Body Interface in Health and Healing. This will occur once a year. Dr. Vijay Sanghvi made a donation of $30000 to Jhankar for the promotion of Indian classical music and dance. Jhankar is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of Indian Classical Music, helps with inviting world renowned musicians and dancers to the greater Cincinnati area. Ankur is most proud to have Dr. Vijay Sanghvi, a renowned cardiologist, magnanimous philanthropist and dynamic person as part of our community. Ankur Gujarati Samaj is nonprofit organization that promotes Indian culture through a vibrant member body. Ankur brings variety of social, religious and charitable events and activities such as Yoga, Bridge, monthly charity lunches, Indian festivals and much more to the greater Cincinnati area. Come over to Ankur Bridge Club in a group of 4 players and Bhupen Joshi will teach the basics of this game for a nominal charge. Anyone who enjoys Bridge is invited to come and play on Wednesday nights at ANKUR. Players should arrive at 6:45 PM so everyone can help set up tables and equipment downstairs. The aim is to be seated with partners by 6:50 PM so play can begin. A prompt start is to achieve a timely finish. All bridge players are invited to come, play, and have fun. Join us! 6 Ankur Activities Drop-In Center Homeless Shelter Lunch Monthly: Wednesday, January 15 th 2014 (Second Wednesday every month) For over 12 years, Ankur volunteers have quietly and consistently served at The Drop-In Center monthly lunch, traditional Thanksgiving meal, winter wear at Christmas as well as donations to those who are homeless in Cincinnati serving society and those in need. A group of truly devoted Ankur volunteers donate, prepare and serve lunch to over 150 homeless people every month at The Drop-In Center which is Greater Cincinnati's largest homeless shelter, located in Overthe-Rhine Thanks to these generous members of Ankur community led by Bharti Noticewala who donate funds, food items and time making these monthly lunches possible. A true spirit of charity! ANKUR thrives with on-going activities like Yoga, Bridge Club, Book Club, Silver Innings, Drop-In center lunch as well as youth events, social, religious and charitable events, thanks to a strong Ankur community. Ankur Shakti Mandal joined festivities for Mata Ki Chauki at Sai Mandir last month on December 14 th for an evening of lively music, Devi bhajans, maha prasad and Baba s aarti. Pallavi Patel and Jyoti Hegde coordinated Ankur Mahila bhajan satsang event with Sai Mandir s Mata ki Chauki celebration. This collaboration between Ankur and Sai Mandir is a perfect example of community at large coming together for devotional music and celebrating Devi Shakti within each one of us. Kirti and Urmila Ghia donated $2,000 for Ankur Scholarship Fund in December Annual Ghia scholarship is a beloved Ankur tradition. Hearty thanks to Ghia family for their generous donation and investment in community kids.
